چکیده

This study reports the results of an examination of the stools of 58 infants with gastroenteritis who were seen as outpatients. The stools were examined by routine bacterial culture, and by electron microscopy for virus particles. The stools of a comparable control group of infants who had no gastrointestinal symptoms were also similarly examined. Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp., and rotaviruses, as well as other viruses, particularly adenoviruses and coronaviruses, were isolated.

Quantitative estimation of infantile gastroenteritis virus antigens in stools by immune adherence hemagglutination test.

Infantile gastroenteritis virus antigens in stools were titrated by the immune adherence hemagglutination test. A good correlation was observed between immune adherence hemagglutination titers and electron microscope counts.

Norovirus-binding proteins recovered from activated sludge micro-organisms with an affinity to a noroviral capsid peptide.

AIMS Transmission routes of noroviruses, leading aetiological agents of acute gastroenteritis, are rarely verified when outbreaks occur. Because the destination of norovirus particles being firmly captured by micro-organisms could be totally different from that of those particles moving freely, micro-organisms with natural affinity ligands such as virus-binding proteins would affect the fate of...

Biochemical characterization of infantile gastroenteritis virus (IGV).

Enzymic and biophysical studies with purified infantile gastroenteritis virus (IGV) nucleic acid indicated that the virion contained a double-stranded RNA genome of approx. 14 x 10(6) daltons which could be separated by gel electrophoresis into eight bands of RNA which were comprised of 15 RNA species. Two major virus proteins, VP2 (mol. wt. = 135,000) and VP8 (mol. wt. = 40,000), which compose...
